Hayat Universal School (HUBS) Qatar is a PreK 12 British Columbia Certified Offshore School operating in Doha, Qatar. HUBS Qatar offers the BC Program along with a national program in Arabic Language, Islamic Education and Qatar History. Through these programs, the school aims to graduate: Effective Communicators, Reflective Thinkers, Responsible Individuals, and Global Muslims.
The Student Activities and Behavior Management Officer will support the school leadership in the areas of student activities, behavior management and parent and community engagement.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and implement a program for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including those conducted at the Qatar national and international levels to expand and enrich the learning experiences of all students.
- Lead initiatives that promote student voice in and outside the classroom working with grade Program Heads and their teachers; this includes leading the Student Council and Student Ministries.
- Work with government agencies and other organizations in the school community that may play a role in providing effective pastoral care, child safeguarding and opportunities to enrich student school experiences.
- Start and implement initiatives for the school to ensure parents are listened to and engaged in the school life and assess their satisfaction including cyclical and purpose-specific surveys.
- Support the school leadership team in the following areas, as needed by the school taking into consideration the skill set of the Officer:
- Implementing the school Behavior Management Program and Discipline Policy
- Tracking and analyzing student behavior data
- Ensuring Behavior Management is consistent with the school policy for Child Safeguarding
- Reviewing and updating school policies and processes that contribute to lower behavior incidents
- Training teaching staff on school-wide behavior expectations including, during evacuation drills, and Character Education Programs.
- Supporting staff in implementing strategies that improve classroom behavior
- Developing initiatives to promote positive behavior management such as, but not limited to, reward systems.
- Planning and leading student assemblies
- Planning PA announcements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Education or a field related to schools
- A minimum of five years of experience working in schools in a teaching or education leadership area relevant to the job responsibilities.
- Fluency in English and Arabic
- Approachable personality with clear and empathetic communication skills
- Critical thinking and organizational skills
- Conflict resolution skills
